Five London Event Venues Worth Knowing: Rooftop Views, Heritage Ballrooms and a Retro Arcade Bar

September has a funny effect on the London events calendar. While everyone else is dusting off their pencil cases, venues are dusting off their showcase invitations, and this year was no exception. We spent the month visiting five very different London event venues across the capital, taking in everything from a City Rooftop to an Edwardian ballroom. Here is what we found.

Aviary London: award-winning rooftop event venue above Finsbury Square

From street level in the City to rooftop level above Finsbury Square, the first stop was Aviary, perched on top of the Montcalm Royal London House. Aviary picked up Gold for Best Venue With a View at this year’s industry awards, and it is easy to see why. The room wraps around panoramic skyline views that make a genuine case for hosting an event somewhere with a proper backdrop.

Their festive set menu leans into comfort with a modern edge, goat’s cheese and fig tart followed by classic roast turkey, and the space flexes from a 50-guest semi-private area up to a full 250-guest takeover. That range makes it a strong option whether you are planning an intimate client dinner or a full office Christmas party.

Quaglino’s St James’s: a London dining institution reopens

Over in St James’s, we got an early look at Quaglino’s following a full transformation under the Evolv Collection, the same group that recently took on Vinoteca. Quaglino’s has been a fixture of London’s dining and private events scene for decades, and the previews we saw suggest the honeycomb ceilings and glamour of the original are staying very much intact, just sharpened up for 2026.

It is a good reminder that new does not always mean brand new. Sometimes it means a familiar name finding its next chapter, and that is just as exciting for us to be able to recommend to clients.

NQ64 Soho: retro arcade bar and private hire venue in central London

Then we changed pace entirely at NQ64 Soho, a retro arcade bar with more than 40 playable machines, from Street Fighter to original PlayStations, alongside a cocktail menu with names any 90s kid will appreciate.

It is not a venue for every brief, but for the right one it is genuinely memorable. A product launch, a team social, a client evening that needs to feel different. NQ64 Soho flexes from a 70-person semi-private area up to a 450-guest exclusive hire, which means it scales considerably further than its arcade bar reputation might suggest.

Clipper Lounge EMB: Thames-side event venue on Embankment Pier

We continued to the water at Clipper Lounge EMB on Embankment Pier. Floor-to-ceiling windows and a terrace look straight out over the Thames, and there is something about hosting an event on the river that makes it feel like an occasion before a single drink has been poured. For companies looking for a Thames-side event venue with a view that does the talking, this one is worth knowing about.

The Waldorf Hilton London: heritage event spaces on Aldwych

We rounded off the month with lunch at The Waldorf Hilton on Aldwych, and it was a lovely note to end on. The Edwardian details are everywhere, from the boardroom that was once the hotel’s Gentleman’s smoking room, complete with an original fireplace and oil paintings, to the Palm Court itself, which film fans might recognise from a scene in Titanic.

With over 1,150 square metres of event space, including the Adelphi Suite for receptions up to 500 and the Palm Court seating 210 for a banquet, it is a London event venue that moves from an intimate lunch to a full corporate celebration without losing any of its heritage character. With Christmas party season approaching, it is the kind of space that makes the occasion feel properly special.

Why this matters for your next brief

September showcases suit us just fine. The wider the mix of venues and venue types we experience firsthand, the sharper our recommendations become when your brief lands on our desk. We would always rather tell you a room works because we have stood in it than because we have seen it in a brochure.

If any of these London event venues sound like a fit for your next event or Christmas party, get in touch and we will talk through what would work best for your brief.
